Badminton is the fastest racket sport, where players use a racket to hit a shuttlecock made of feathers or plastic over the net. Official matches are usually played indoors on a rectangular court, but badminton can also be enjoyed as a recreational outdoor activity in gardens or on the beach. The most common game formats are singles and doubles. Points are scored by hitting the shuttlecock with the racket and landing it within the opponent’s court. In Taiwan, badminton is the most popular competitive sport in terms of participation and is the most chosen university physical education course. National Taiwan Normal University offers a weekly two-hour basic badminton course, covering the history of badminton, badminton court etiquette, fundamental techniques, footwork training, physical conditioning, singles matches, as well as game rules and tactics.
